Helen’s family is very grateful for the loving care provided by the staff of Sanctuary at the Oaks and Harbor Hospice.  A family celebration of Helen’s life will be held at a later date.

Whenever I think of your Mom, my thoughts are always my Dear Sweet Helen. She truly had a very special place in my heart and won’t be forgotten. I can still her say ”Don’t forget to pray with me.” Helen was loved by all at The Oaks and by her very special family. ❤️

I did not get to spend a lot of time with Miss Helen before the good Lord called her home, but in those few months, she sure made herself a cozy place in my heart. She never showed any frustration despite any struggles she may have been facing. She always kept a great attitude and was an absolute pleasure to be around. I always told her how sweet she was, and she would question it and I would say, “no Miss Helen, you’re sweet like chocolate! That good, sweet, Hershey’s milk chocolate!”
The “bird lady” is greatly missed by her Oaks family! Rest in paradise my sweet girl!

Anyone who met Helen knew what a truly caring person she was. No matter how hard she was struggling, I never once heard her complain or say anything negative. She was a beloved member of the Oaks community, and a favorite of many of the staff members. I, for one, will remember my anam cara and her sweetheart any time I see a cardinal or listen to Johnny Cash.

My sincere condolences to the family. Your mother was the sweetest, kindest woman I’ve ever met. She was my Aunt Barb Bower’s best friend at The Oaks. She will be lost without her I know. They used to eat their meals next to each other and hold each other’s hands. Two sweet older women in the twilight of their lives. We will miss you so much Helen. God Bless
    Love, Cathy Bonter

What an absolute ray of sunshine she was to all that were blessed to know her. She and Ron were our dearest neighbors and I am so thankful for their beautiful hearts that adopted the new kids and made our new home that much more special. Good memories of great people will be forever kept in my heart. My deepest condolences and heartfelt sorrow to the entire family.

Sending sincere sympathy to whole family, especially Karen & Polly. It was a privilege serve as nurse to both Ron, and later for Helen. I am blessed to have met them, and see their lovely relationship. They were a wonderful couple in every way! Helen was always gracious and kind to everyone. Smart, funny and humble. Truly beautiful inside and out.
Sending cyber hugs with wishes for peace and comfort. Sharri, D. RN
