Bill L. Thurlow

Bill Lee Thurlow, formerly of Midland, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at his home in North Muskegon. He retired from Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids. Prior to that, he and his wife Sarah, lived in the Cincinnati, Ohio area (Loveland) for 27 1/2 years, were active members of First Baptist Church, Milford, Ohio, before relocating back to Michigan in 2004. Bill received his BS degree from Western Michigan University, taught in Christian schools, and later became Maintenance Director for a large company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Up until his death, he was on the Board of Directors for the S.S. Milwaukee Clipper Ship as well as an active volunteer doing restoration on the ship, docked in Muskegon, Michigan, a work he truly enjoyed, along with the camaraderie with other volunteers. He had a God given gift in so many areas of maintenance, and everything he did, he did to perfection. He was a thorough and organized no matter what jobs he undertook. Bill was a giver, and helped many folks by way of monetary giving, choosing to remain anonymous, utilized hi skills in many maintenance repairs, building installations, remodeling, electrical, etc. You name it, he could do it, displaying a “want to please” attitude. He was responsible, conscientious, creative and hard working. But best of all, Bill was a born again Christian, having accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord, and is now in Heaven with Him and his new body, no more pain or suffering. He prayed often for friends and family for their salvation by accepting the Lord as Savior, and have eternal life in Heaven as the Bible teaches.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Mitchelene (Denslow) Thurlow, sister Linda Thurlow, brother Stephen Thurlow, and grandparents; survived by his wife, Sarah (Davila) Thurlow, brother Charles (Brenda) Thurlow of Belville, NC, sister-in-law, Patricia (Albright) Thurlow of Saginaw, MI and several nieces and nephews. Bill will truly be missed!

Private Family Graveside Burial will be held on June 12, 2020 at Midland Memorial Gardens, Midland, Michigan.  Memorial contributions can be made to the S.S. Milwaukee Clipper Preservation, Inc., P.O. Box 1370, Muskegon, MI 49443 or go to www.milwaukeeclipper.com

To my sister Sarah. With a heavy heart for your loss. Bill was for ever a part of the Davila family. He is walking with all of those family members who have gone before us. And we too, will see them all when we get to the other side. Love you, sister Tina

The whole Clipper gang will miss Bill immensely, Sarah. He was so talented, and so pleasant to work with, and an especially great friend. There are some folks who are much more of a one of a kind, and Bill was one of those. God Bless Bill, and you too, Sarah. May peace be with you, especially knowing he is in a much better place.

Sarah, praying God will comfort you & hold you close in His arms. Praying every day for you.
Bill was an amazing Christian man & friend.
His life’s testimony describes the true walk of a godly man. His testimony will live on in the hearts of people he touched. Many may still come to know Christ as Savior, because they not only heard the salvation plan but they also saw the actions & results of one who lived for Christ.
    Love you sweet Sarah.
