Arturo Mendez

Arturo (aka Turo or Tuti) Mendez peacefully entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, October 2, 2020, after fighting a long battle with cancer.  He was the 7th child of Eluterio and Ofelia (Amaya) Mendez, born on April 19, 1960.  Arturo was preceded in death by both his parents, brothers Jose Carlos Mendez and David Mendez, brothers-in-law, Jesus Marinez, Pablo Ramirez, and Alfonso Rodriguez; niece Melissa Marinez and great-nephew Isaiah Garza.  He is survived by siblings, Cris (Lee Mireles) Marinez, Sylvia Rodriguez, Diana Estrada, Gloria Ramirez, Juan (Michelle) Mendez and Patty (Scott) Haiker, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.  Also survived by Arturo are Charlotte and Alex Carrillo and Aaron Clincy whom he raised like his own children.

Arturo served in the United States Navy for 4 years and had a passion for cooking, playing the congas, percussion instruments and a strong follower of the band Santana and Poncho Sanchez.  Arturo was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

A memorial will be held Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the VFW Post 3734, located at 5201 Airline Road, Muskegon, Michigan 49444 starting at 1:00 p.m.
