Alan H. Vredeveld

Alan H. Vredeveld, age 74, was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 26, 1945 to the late Bartel H. and Irene (Homfeld) Vredeveld and passed away on June 9, 2019. Alan was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Ann Vredeveld.  Survived by his two children, Tammy Farber and Jim (Theresa) Vredeveld; four grandchildren, Kassidy, Lucas, Trenton and Sierrah; sister, Joyce Montgomery; sister-in-law, Mitzi Schmidt; several nieces and nephews.  Good friends, Paul Thoma, Bruce Waterman, Don Daniels and David Cummings. Along with his wife Alan was preceded in death by a son in law, Robert Farber; and five granddaughters in infancy, Angel and Katelyn Vredeveld, Allison, Brianna and Katherine Farber.  Al was retired from the City of Muskegon Heights Fire Department after 27 ½ years of service where he worked as the assistant Fire Chief.  He was a fire investigator for several Muskegon area municipalities. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the Great Lakes on his boat, the JATA.  He was a member of the American Cribbage Congress and the Lakeside Eagles where he played cribbage with the Muskegon Cribbage Club. According to his wish’s cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mona Lake Boat Club, 372 Randall Road, Norton Shores, Michigan. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the West Michigan Veteran’s Inc.

    Will always remember the good time we had travelling to the Grand National in Oregon, and Al’s big grin. He always gave me fishing advice for my husband.
