Barbara Mae Unger of Laketon Township was born in Muskegon on September 19, 1929 to the late Theodore and Emma (Gregory) LaRue and passed away on September 18, 2014. Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fredrick; seven children, Tammy Kaffenberger, Lori (Doug) Potter, Tim Unger, Michelle (Tim) Anderson, Greg (Carol) Unger, Maryann (Melvin) Twiest, Michael (Steve) Unger; grandchildren, Nicole (Shannon) Pomeroy, Samatha (David) Welch, Mike Kaffenberger. Jr., Hunter Anderson, Theresa (Neil) Wadland, John (Chana) Perez, Jamie (Lee) Fortin-West, Heather Unger, Rik Daniel Guenther, Patrick (Jeniffer) Unger; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Emerson Pomeroy, Meagan Glass, Katlyn Kaffenberger, Nathan and Aaliyah Welch, Logan and Gage Wadland, Autumn, Lily and Odalis Perez, Marley and Madison Fortin-West; siblings, Richard (Dawn) LaRue and Janet Wolfhard. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Irene Unger; sister, Marylou Whalen; brother, James LaRue; and son –in-Law, Mike Kaffenberger, Sr., Barbara loved to cook, read, watch soap operas and talk politics. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and making jewelry. She had many happy times with her family on picnics, camping and long road trips. She took pride in taking care of her family and friends that came to her home. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Shoreline Memorial Services Chapel on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance starting at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Sanctuary at the Park Activity Fund or the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
