ObituaryWalter G. Goetz, T/Sgt (retired - USAF), 84, died peacefully on July 17, 2017. Walter was born on September 21, 1932 in Muskegon, MI to Carl and Lillian (Grabosky) Goetz and they preceded him in death. He is survived by his Wife of 62 years, Peggy (Bozeman) and his two Daughters, Lisa Goetz and Dianne Goetz, also of Muskegon. His only Grandchild Eric Sander. He is also survived by his Brother Dave (and Barb) Goetz of Muskegon, and Sisters Carol Popps and Margie Goetz of New Port Richey, FL.
Walter was a 20 year, 5 month Veteran of the USAF, serving proudly from 1951 until 1971. He then started a second career at GTE, working as an equipment installer, then an equipment engineer until his second retirement in 1987.
In 1951, he joined the USAF. In 1954 he and a buddy drove the AlCan Highway from Fairbanks to Muskegon in a 1949 Ford. During his AF career, he worked as a crew chief on T33, F84, F86 and C119’s until 1959 when he retrained in electronics. He transferred to the Security Squadron in 1962 and served in Misawa, Japan, Key West, Florida, and Berlin, Germany.
At Walter’s request there will be no visitation, interment or memorial service. Cremation has already taken place.
